By the projects NAK-karitativ tries to eliminate or reduce situations of emergency and permanent shortages. In the relief projects after disasters and catastrophes the focus is directed to cover the essential needs of affected persons and households (food, water, medical support). This first aid often turns into projects of rehabilitation, which aim to a sustainable change of conditions of life. Central objective is not to restore the old situation but to renovate life in community according to the values of participation, emancipation and antidiscrimination.

All projects shall be installed community based and in accordance with the decisions of the beneficiaries. Each participant is obliged to take responsibility and to activate the powers of self-help. Group-discussions, participation in the planning stages of projects and working in the ongoing projects on ones own responsibility creates a high identification between the beneficiaries, the trainers and consultants and the objectives of the projects. Projects are measures to be completed in a determined time in the frame of a fixed budget to achieve defined objectives. Different projects may be linked to a development plan for an entire region. So often it makes sense to connect agriculture projects with water-, sanitation- and education projects.

Important remark:

Earmarked donations are used for the appointed project. In cases of a remaining surplus this funds will be transferred to a similar project.
